Why I am Running

I can do better! I am running for Grand Traverse County Commission District 4 because I value citizen participation as part of the planning process. This is key to a healthy community.

• I have served over 10 years as commissioner for Garfield Township’s Parks and Recreation Commission (co-chair) and Zoning Board of Appeals. With my dedication and experience, I understand how local government works.

• I am a professional planner and know that setting both short and long-term goals, objectives, strategies and policies is imperative for fiscal responsibility and maximizing efficiency of spending taxpayer’s money.

• I understand that we need to support the expertise and practice of our county’s health care professionals knowing their main objective is to protect our community.

• I understand the importance of addressing our county’s housing concerns and transportation needs.

I aim to positively impact our county by setting goals and targets in key areas like housing, healthcare, childcare, transportation, and essential services for Grand Traverse County residents. I can do better for District 4 of Grand Traverse County.

• I am a wife, mom, daughter of a law enforcement officer and a nurse, with a strong work ethic

• I understand not everyone starts with the same opportunities

• I have been a dedicated TCAPS volunteer, have worked full-time and understand life’s challenges

• I have lived over 20 years in Grand Traverse County first on Old Mission Peninsula and now Garfield Township.
